Left Ventricular Assist Device Coordinator
Summary
The Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Coordinatormanages inpatient and ambulatory care of LVAD recipients focusing on patient and caregiver education, interdisciplinary care coordination, and ensuring regulatory compliance to optimize patient outcomes.Will drive implementation and maturity of the mechanical circulatory program with cross training in LVAD, ECMO and Shock.
The LVAD Coordinator functions as an expert clinician, responsible for independent and interdependent nursing practice. Coordinates and optimizes health care team interventions across the continuum, including inpatient and outpatient settings, and is actively involved in meeting discharge goals and long-term care outcomes. Assists educators in providing competencies for staff and community education. Participates in patient and caregiver education. Provides educational/outreach programs to health care providers, patient groups, community organizations, and others in the hospitals service area.
The LVAD Coordinator serves in a rotating on call capacity to provide 24-hour coverage for both inpatient and outpatient environments.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in nursing Required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years Cardiac or Cardiothoracic critical care nursing experience required. 3 Years in a LVAD step down unit or ECMO experience Preferred.
Certification: BLS and ACLS Required.
License: Current State of Florida Nursing License Required.
Other: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work in an autonomous setting. Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action within scope of role.
