Certified Nursing Assistant Advanced
This is a full-time day-shift clinical support role within Cape Coral Hospital's Employee Health Services department. The schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm - No Weekends. (unable to accommodate student schedules).
The position functions more like a medical clinic setting than a bedside inpatient role, assisting nurses with employee health screenings, occupational health services, vaccinations, documentation, and routine clinical support activities for Lee Health team members.
MUST HAVE CURRENT CNA & BLS CERTIFICATIONS. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS.
Responsibilities in Employee Health Services
- Rooming employees for appointments
- Obtaining and documenting vital signs
- Assisting with pre-employment health screenings
- Performing or assisting with specimen collection (urine, blood, saliva) as permitted
- Supporting immunization and vaccination clinics
- Conducting hearing, vision, respirator fit testing, and other occupational health screenings
- Preparing exam rooms and maintaining supplies
- Assisting nurses with employee injury evaluations and return-to-work processes
- Maintaining accurate employee health records
- Following infection prevention and confidentiality standards

Summary
Provides patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health, social needs, comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid and elimination needs. May have access to and transport non-controlled medications as directed.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of a State Approved, CNA Education Program required (with at least 120 hours of academic studies and clinical training; 165 hours preferred in Acute Care).
Experience: Previous CNA work experience preferred; or new graduate CNA with clinical training.
Certification: Proof of American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; current for a minimum of 90 days after hire date.
License: Current Florida CNA Certification; or a CNA certification active in another state which is transferrable to obtain Florida certification under reciprocity.
Other: Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology.
