Summary
Performs high-quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures fixed and mobile according to the policy and procedures that are provided by the cardiovascular department. A Level 2 (primary vascular) sonographer must be specialized in vascular ultrasound testing with a valid vascular registry and currently practicing independently. Assists the providers with designated diagnostic exams. Interacts with medical staff and other outside entities regarding ultrasound matters. Must be proficient in vascular exams to include but not limited to carotid, venous, arterial, abdominal visceral, hemodialysis duplex, and physiological exams. Assists vascular surgeons in EVLT procedures. General computer skills as needed. May transport non-narcotic medications as directed. Works positively with all customers to promote patient, employee, and physician satisfaction. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Participates in staff/student orientation training.
Requirements
Education: Graduated from accredited or ARRT approved ultrasound program.
Experience: 2 years vascular ultrasound experience required.
Certification: BLS (American Heart Association/Basic Life Support) required. Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Vascular Technology (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International in Vascular Ultrasound (RVS).
