Summary

Supports leadership and clinical excellence through evidence based practice, excellent patient care, through learning and development that aligns with Lee Health strategic priorities. Provides leadership at the unit and campus level to be sure that the specific learning and practice gaps unique to the campus are identified, while at the same time, provides leadership and collaboration on a system level to assure that campus and system needs are in alignment. Collaborative leadership with a focus to standardize learning and practice across the system, will assure that nursing care and practice are of the highest quality. This position functions as a participant of a system or corporate team that provides education consultation for leadership, physicians, all levels of employees, volunteers, performance improvement teams, and other system wide committees to provide the following services: evidence based practice solutions and to improve clinical knowledge, practice, competence, patient safety, quality, clinical outcomes, and employee engagement. Maintaining a focus on standardization of workflow processes, policies and procedures, clinical practices, standards of care, competencies, across the system is an important function of this role. This position provides supervision to each clinical educator at the campus level and oversees all campus/unit based educational initiatives and programs. Communicates all unit and campus level requests for educational services to the system level (Manager/System Director of Nursing Professional Development (NPD) in order to assure that a comprehensive needs assessment is completed, cost effective solutions are developed that are in alignment with strategic initiatives. Communicating all unit and campus requests at the system level will facilitate an assessment with all NPD Supervisors and Managers of Nursing Professional Development to identify learning needs that may exist across all campuses; thereby facilitating a standardized approach to and learning intervention, versus a decentralized approach that may not bring about standardization. This position provides expertise in instructional design methodology: conducting comprehensive data driven needs analysis, problem delineation, and identification of evidence based solutions, interventions, and learning to fill identified knowledge/practice/behavioral needs. Demonstrates use of evaluation methods to measure the impact of educational interventions, focusing on the improvement of clinical practice, patient outcomes, employee/patient engagement, and return on investment. Provides leadership to support systematic change management across the health system. Assures that all educational interventions, programs, and services meet regulatory, accreditation, practice and legal standards. Supports local university/collegiate academic leaders, faculty, and students who utilize Lee Health facilities for clinical rotations. Participates in collegial partnerships and projects to promote research, evidence based practice initiatives that will improve student competence/practice, patient safety, and improved clinical outcomes.

Required

  • Master's in Nursing

Preferred

  • Master's in Education

Additional Requirements

  • If Masters Degree is not in nursing education, proof of obtaining additional education such as post graduate certification in instructional design/nursing education is preferred or as a current certification in Nursing Professional Development. If a Masters degree is not in nursing, must have a BSN.

Experience

Must have at least five years of full time clinical nursing experience, preferable in the setting in which they will work. Must have at least two years of full time nursing education experience in a formal education role and minimum of one year of formal managerial experience.

  • Basic Life Support Accreditation from American Heart Association, current for at least the first 90 days of employment. A current Certification in Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) is preferred; must obtain this certification within two years of employment.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning; memberships in national professional organization is preferred such as Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) or Association of Talent Development (ATD). Demonstrates the ability to use advanced computer/software skills such as the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Demonstrates competency in using laptop projector systems for education programs and presentations.
