Research and Development Technician, Deli, Lakeland
- developing new products and improving existing products within established guidelines
- researching consumer trends and incorporating into new product ideas
- providing input for production recipes and process guidelines
- inputting and revising recipes in SAP
- utilizing databases to input or revise product information
- creating and maintaining quality assurance specifications for products
- troubleshooting product as it relates to recipes
- conducting experiments on ingredients and products
- verifying ingredient specifications (yields, quality characteristics, labeling, etc.)
- performing comparison tests against product competitors
- maintaining R&D lab, storage areas and ensuring that equipment is clean and organized
- providing assistance to production areas to improve processes
- conducting new product cuttings and samplings
- presenting to associates in different levels of the company including hourly associates and upper management and
- assisting in other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- must be at least 18 years old
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field or related work experience
- must be creative and have the ability to "think outside of the box"
- knowledge of ingredient functionality
- ability to design experiments
- good understanding of Manufacturing operations
- must be willing to assist other team members in other areas
- must be able to document product formulations and procedures accurately
- must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
- must demonstrate safe working habits
- must be able to lift in excess of 25 pounds frequently
- must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- must have good human relations skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team player)
- must be able to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours
- must have excellent attendance and punctuality
- must be able to perform steady and productive work for an extended period of time
- must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision
- must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- must possess basic math skills
- must be able to communicate effectively
- must show enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work and
